Board of Directors

The board for the Amber Outreach Project remains small.  Meetings are held in Newberg, a suburb of Portland, Oregon, and are open to those who express an interest in attending.  Directors come from a variety of backgrounds and churches, unified in a desire to obey the commands of Jesus to care for those in need.  Who we are:

Walt Jaquith, President  walt@amberoutreachproject.org

Walt Jaquith is a mechanical designer and all-around technician with over 30 years time in grade. A natural focus on problem solving coupled with a very high tolerance for "crazy ideas" has resulted in many grand adventures over the years. Those adventures have taken him to Haiti three times so far, and on one of those trips he was privileged to be present when the heart of AOP first started beating. Walt considers himself called to full-time ministry, and although that has yet to result in a paid position, he hasn't ruled out the possibility. In the mean time he has found that having a "mammon profession" to support what he really does has worked out fairly well. Walt serves as an Elder at GodSong Community Church in Newberg, Oregon, where he teaches Bible and plays guitar in the worship band. He and Carol, his wife of 25 years were two of the founding members of that church. One of Walt's favorite sayings: "The three most dangerous words in the English language are 'I don't care'."

Rich Eoff, Vice President  rich@amberoutreachproject.org

Rich is a father of two but has interest in adopting children from Haiti. Rich works with two different orphanages in Haiti, House of Hope in Port-au- Prince and Maranatha House in Titanyen. He is currently a Licensed Property Manager in Newberg, OR and is also the Maintenance Manager for Chehalem Property Management where he does minor plumbing, electrical and over all upkeep of the properties he manages.  He has been a volunteer coach with Chehalem Parks and Recreation for 3 years. He coaches boys and girls Middle School Basketball and Middle School Track. Rich is also a First Degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do where he teaches self defense to youth. Rich is currently studying the use of Hydroponics and how it can be applied in places like Haiti and Africa.

Carol Jaquith, Secretary/Treasurer carol@amberoutreachproject.org

From her earliest days, Carol Jaquith has taken care of others. She is a natural organizer, and can find patterns of order and peace in any chaotic scene. She is well-known for her resourcefulness, as well as for the resources she manages. She will either have exactly what's needed "just laying around", or know just where to get it, often for free. Whether you need someone to sort out and organize your finances, feed a small army on next to nothing, or coax a cranky baby into blissful sleep, she's the one you want. Carol comes by her heart for missions work completely honestly; show her a need, and she will naturally start working on a way to meet it. She has been to Haiti twice and Mexico once on mission trips. Carol works as an administrative assistant in the psychology department at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon. She is one of the original founders of AOP, and helps with the daily operations.

Michelle Burchett, Board member michelle@amberoutreachproject.org
Michelle is a mother of five, the youngest two adopted from Haiti. Michelle has a degree in Management and Organizational Leadership from George Fox University. Prior to coming to Amber Outreach Project, she served on the board of Amer-Haitian Bon Zami, an organization that owns and operates a school and orphanage in Port au Prince, Haiti. Michelle is currently a full-time teacher at a private Christian school.

Anna Loving, Board member anna@amberoutreachproject.org

Anna Loving has been involved in nonprofit management for more than 20 years through church, missions and special district administration, and is currently handling many of the daily operations of AOP.   Professionally, she is a teacher and licensed minister, specializing in children and the people who work with them. She is also involved in short term overseas missions, with friends all over the world.  She has made several trips to southern Africa, and is always looking for new ways to make international friendships.  She and husband Don have been active members of Family Life Church in Newberg since 1996. Anna joined the AOP board in 2009.

Shannon Eoff, Board member   shannon@amberoutreachproject.org

Growing up, sports, music, travel, camping, and other outdoor activities were a regular part of Shannon's life.  Having learned to play many instruments, she settled on drum set after high school.  Raised in a Christian home, she attended various denominational and non-denominational churches.  Combining life experience with a general love of learning, she enjoys understanding many cultural and social perspectives.  In March 2010, she will finish a degree in Architectural Design & Drafting.  Currently, she plays worship music at and regularly attends GodSong Community Church in Newberg (OR), holds an internship with the Newberg Area Habitat for Humanity, and volunteers on the board for Amber Outreach Project.  For three years, she and her husband Rich (also with AOP) provided a family setting for two Haitian children.  Currently, they have two children, ages 7 and 10, live in Newberg, OR, and work for the same property management company.

Stacy Burchett, Board member stacy@amberoutreachproject.org

Stacy Burchett has been involved in ministry for over 25 years. He has been a music pastor, youth pastor, and associate pastor. He has been on several foreign missions trips. He has also adopted two daughters from Haiti. Stacy has a Master’s Degree in Music. He is currently teaching at C. S. Lewis Academy, a Christian school in Newberg Oregon.

Angela Burchett, Board member  angela@amberoutreachproject.org

Angela has spent the last decade working within the nonprofit sector. Contributing to humanitarian efforts locally and internationally, she has spent time in Haiti and Mexico and has served as a mentor for junior high, high school and college students across the country. When not leading mission teams or chatting it up at a conference near you, Angela can be found at the local coffee shop writing a page for her upcoming book projects. She has a passion for music, art, and good coffee, and she loves restoring life to the broken, forgotten, and discarded people (and things) in this world. Angela holds her degree in Christian Ministry Studies with an emphasis in Non-Profit Administration. She is currently in Australia working at a Christian camp facility.
